Terms

Who we are
Hawlarfits makes and sells handmade footwear and leather goods from Lagos, Nigeria. When these terms say we, us or our, they mean Hawlarfits. When they say you, they mean the person buying.
These terms cover every order placed on hawlarfits.com and every order agreed with us over WhatsApp or Instagram. Placing an order means you accept them. Please read them first. If there is something here you are not happy with, message us before you pay rather than after.
Who can buy
You need to be 18 or older to place an order, or have a parent or guardian do it for you. You also need to be using a payment method you are allowed to use. We can refuse or cancel an order if we have good reason to think that is not the case.
The pieces
We describe and photograph everything as honestly as we can. Leather and suede vary between hides and between batches, and screens vary too, so small differences in colour, grain and finish are part of the material rather than a fault. Sizing guidance is on the sizing page and is a guide, not a measurement of your foot.
We work in short runs, so a colour or a size can sell out and come back later, or not come back at all. Nothing on the site is a promise that a piece will stay available.
Prices
Prices are in Nigerian naira and include VAT where it applies. Delivery is worked out at checkout from the zone you pick and the weight of your bag, and is shown before you pay.
We can change prices at any time, but a change never affects an order you have already paid for. If a price is obviously wrong, for example a piece listed far below what it costs to make, we will contact you before doing anything and you can confirm at the right price or have your money back in full.
Discount codes
A code works only while it is live, only on the pieces it covers, and only once per order. Some codes need a minimum spend or run out after a set number of uses. We can withdraw a code at any time, and we can cancel an order where a code has clearly been misused.
Placing an order
Adding something to your bag does not hold it. Nothing is reserved until payment clears, or until we have seen and approved your transfer receipt. If a piece sells out between your order and your payment, we will tell you and give you your money back.
Your order is an offer to buy. The contract only starts when we confirm it. We can turn an order down, and if we do we will say why and refund you in full. Paystack orders left unpaid for an hour are cancelled automatically so the stock goes back on the shelf.
Paying
You can pay through Paystack (card, bank transfer, USSD or a bank app), by direct bank transfer, or by agreeing the order with us on WhatsApp. Card details never reach us. They are handled by the payment provider on its own pages.
If you pay by transfer, send the exact total to the account shown on your order page and upload the receipt there. We check it by hand, so allow a little time. If the amount that lands is short, the payment is treated as unpaid until the balance arrives.
Made to order
Some pieces are cut and made after you order them. Where that is the case the product page says so and gives a window in working days. That window is how long the making takes, and delivery is added on top. It is an honest estimate rather than a guarantee, and we will tell you if a pair is running behind.
Because a made-to-order pair is started for you, it can only be cancelled before we begin cutting. Message us quickly if you change your mind.
Delivery
We deliver across Lagos, the rest of Nigeria, and abroad. The estimate on each zone is in working days and starts once your order is confirmed and packed, not from the moment you pay. Weekends and public holidays do not count.
Give us an address someone can actually receive a parcel at, and a phone number the courier can reach. If a delivery fails because the address or the number was wrong, or because nobody was there after the courier tried, a second attempt is charged again. Once a courier has the parcel we can chase it for you, but we do not control it.
The pieces become yours once we have been paid in full. Responsibility for them passes to you when they are handed over at your address, or to someone at that address.
On orders going outside Nigeria, any duty, tax or clearing fee is yours to pay. We cannot say in advance what a country will charge. A parcel refused at customs comes back to us minus the delivery cost, which we cannot recover.
Checking your order
Open the parcel and look at what is inside as soon as it reaches you. If something is missing, damaged in transit, or not what you ordered, tell us within 48 hours with a photo and we will sort it out at our cost.
Exchanges and refunds
Sizing swaps within 7 working days of delivery. Refunds where a piece is faulty, wrong, or never arrives. The exchange and refund policy has the full detail and forms part of these terms.
Nothing in these terms takes away the rights you have under Nigerian consumer law.
Wear and care
Handmade leather is meant to be worn. Soles wear down, leather creases and softens, suede takes on a nap, and colour shifts with sun and use. None of that is a fault. The care guide explains how to slow it down. Damage from misuse, an accident, or a repair someone else carried out is not covered.
Your account
You do not need an account to buy. If you ask to see your order history we email you a link that lasts 30 minutes and works once. Keep that link to yourself. Anyone holding it can see your orders.
Our words and pictures
The Hawlarfits name, the logo, the photography and the writing on this site belong to us. You are welcome to share a link or a shot of your own pair. Please do not copy our images or text for your own shop, resell our pieces as your own work, or use the name in a way that suggests we are behind something we are not.
Using the site
Please do not try to break into the site, scrape it, place orders you have no intention of paying for, or use someone else's card. We keep records of orders and payments and we will report fraud.
We try to keep the site up and correct, but we do not promise it will never be down or never carry a mistake. We can change or withdraw any part of it.
Where our responsibility ends
If we get something wrong, we will put it right or refund you. What we owe you for any one order is limited to what you paid for that order, and we are not responsible for knock-on losses such as a missed event, lost earnings, or the cost of buying elsewhere.
We are also not responsible for delays caused by things outside our control, such as courier failure, strikes, fuel shortages, power or network outages, customs holds, flooding or government action. If one of those drags on we will offer you the choice of waiting or taking a refund.
None of this limits our responsibility for death, personal injury or fraud, which the law does not allow us to sign away.
Privacy
What we hold about you, why, and how to have it removed is set out in the privacy policy .
Changes to these terms
We update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one on the site when you placed it, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Lagos State deal with any dispute. Come to us first. Almost everything is settled in a message. If we cannot agree, you can take it to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
